CHILDREN'S FIRST BIRTHDAY PHOTOGRAPHY: PAULA
Paula’s mom contacted Aps Fotografía for her little one’s birthday photo session. She didn’t hesitate to book an appointment, since it wasn’t the first time they’d been to the studio—this was actually their third visit. She wasn’t quite sure which colors to choose for the set, so we answered with a very simple question, “Paloma, do you trust me?” and that was all it took. In this case, we went all out—from the props to the wardrobe.
Our little girl arrived at the studio accompanied by her mom and her grandma, all eager to have a great time—and what a way to do it!
Smashcake Sessions with Lots and Lots of Balloons
For Paula and her birthday cake, it was love at first sight. Once she saw it, she immediately ran over and started eating it. She gave us many wonderful moments—from serious faces to grumpy, almost “old lady” expressions, and all sorts of funny looks. She’s such a sweet girl, and she provided us with countless delightful moments. There were times when she tried to escape from the set because she’s so restless and nothing could hold her back, which made us all laugh—especially since her poor grandma ended up going home completely covered in cake.
As with almost every children’s photo session, lighting was another key element in this shoot. Photos of little ones always have an extra touch of clarity, transparency, and innocence when there’s plenty of light.
Most kids are used to being told they can’t put their hands in their food, let alone eat it with their hands; but with Paula, that wasn’t a problem at all because the birthday girl just couldn’t stop eating throughout the session—even at the very end.
After one part of the session ended and she was completely covered in cake, our little munchkin went straight to the bathroom in our bathtub—which we now include in some of our smashcake packages. And, just like before, she didn’t stop eating her cake.
We hope you enjoy her as much as we did. We leave you with Paula and her adorably mischievous “old lady” face.
