INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR COMMUNION: RODRIGO

Rodrigo’s mom showed up at the studio one day accompanied by her sister—and to our surprise, she turned out to be the mom of Antonio (a boy whose communion we photographed last year) and also Rodrigo’s aunt! What an exciting coincidence! That first day, we talked about how Mª del Aguila wanted her boy’s communion session to be, and in the end, we decided it would be styled just like his cousin’s—with both indoor and outdoor parts.

We planned to do it in two segments: one before the communion and another afterward. On the designated day for the outdoor session, Rodrigo arrived at the studio with his parents and his older brother (who, by the way, looked super handsome posing with his little brother in some shots).

I must say that at first, Rodrigo had a bit of trouble smiling—like many kids, he hadn’t yet mastered the natural, effortless smile. But that wasn’t a problem because our chat about his interests and hobbies helped our little protagonist completely open up. He went through three of the four setups we have in the studio, and we believe the results couldn’t be any better.

Before the session ended, Rodrigo showed us something he really wanted included in his photo session. As I always tell the moms, at Aps Fotografía we love to weave in our children’s hobbies to make their communion session truly personalized. Rodrigo brought along a movie clapperboard—priceless in its charm—which we decided to feature in the outdoor segment, perfectly complemented by an old video camera we have in the studio. Rodrigo was absolutely thrilled!

A few days before the outdoor photo session, right after his communion, Rodrigo sent me a voice message from his mom’s phone, reminding me not to forget the camera—after all, this kid is involved in everything!

Rodrigo, just as photogenic as his cousin—even though we hadn’t known it yet

About a week after his communion, we scheduled the second part of his photo session. That day, he came with his mother and the entire film crew, since Rodrigo dreams of becoming a film director when he grows up. We began the session in the park, and by then Rodrigo wasn’t the kid who struggled to smile naturally. His mom told us he had changed dramatically and now, when asked for a photo, he knew just how to smile—all thanks to us.

The park offered us endless creative opportunities, and we had a wonderful session that highlighted his hobby. We had an absolute blast watching the expression on Rodrigo’s face at every location we visited. He’s a very special kid who knows exactly how to win people’s hearts, and he has ours in abundance.

The day we showed his mom the layout of his album, she sent us a voice message thanking us for our work and saying how much she loved it—wasn’t it just to die for? And on top of that, he’s the only kid who chose aqua green as the color for his album—it turned out fantastic.

We leave you with Rodrigo—enjoy him as much as we did!
