SMASHCAKE CHILDREN'S PHOTOGRAPHY: ANDRÉS

Andrés’s mom contacted me after seeing the photo session of one of our other little ones. She didn’t hesitate to book an appointment and told me that she wanted her little boy to have a scene that matched the outfit he would be wearing on his birthday. And at APS Fotografía, we do everything in our power to make that happen!

The little one arrived with his set of balloons and bunnies in beige, light blue, and gray tones, so the props—just like in our other sessions—had to include plenty of balloons in those colors to represent the birthday celebration.

Smashcake Sessions with Lots and Lots of Balloons

At first, Andrés arrived a bit serious, but that quickly changed when his mom placed him on the beautifully prepared set. As with almost every children’s session, the lighting was one of the key elements in this shoot. Photos with little ones always have an extra dose of clarity, transparency, and innocence when there’s plenty of light.

To break the ice, his parents decided to join the session and have a few photos taken with him to capture his first birthday, and that’s when our little guy really began to relax and laugh with us.

Almost all children are used to not being allowed to put their hands in their food—or even eat it with their hands—but in this case, it was even more unusual because, since birth, he had an allergy, and it was his first time trying a sweet. His mom took care of bringing a cake made with all the ingredients he could safely enjoy.

Even though our little protagonist ate only a little, he had a fantastic time playing with his beautiful cake.

After the session ended—and after ending up covered in cake—little Andrés went straight to the bathroom!
